Air Ducts & Vents

Duct Repair & Replacement in Jersey City

Sometimes cleaning isn't enough. When a duct is crushed, disconnected, rusted through or falling apart, we fix the damaged section or replace the run entirely.

Fix Damaged & Failing Ductwork for Jersey City homes

During inspections around Jersey City we regularly find flex duct that has slipped off its collar and is blowing straight into the attic, metal trunks rusted by basement humidity, and runs flattened by storage boxes or by someone crawling over them. Any of these can leave a room with almost no airflow.

Small problems get repaired on the spot: reconnected and strapped collars, new sections spliced in, supports added. When a system is too far gone, we quote a replacement using sheet metal or insulated flex duct sized for the room it serves, so you are not just swapping old problems for new ones.

Signs it's time to call

  • One room gets little or no air
  • Rattling, whistling or booming noises in the ducts
  • Visible rust, holes or torn insulation on duct runs
  • Flex duct sagging between supports or lying crushed
  • Old ductwork wrapped in deteriorating material

How we do it

  1. Inspection with photos of every damaged section
  2. Repair-versus-replace options explained with written pricing
  3. Damaged sections removed and new duct fabricated or fitted
  4. Joints fastened, sealed with mastic and properly supported
  5. Airflow checked at the affected rooms

FAQ

Duct Repair & Replacement questions, answered

Can you repair just one section of duct?

Yes. Most repairs are targeted: replacing a crushed run, reattaching a disconnected collar or patching a rusted elbow. We only recommend full replacement when the system is failing throughout.

What if my old ducts are wrapped in suspicious material?

Some older homes have duct insulation or tape that may contain asbestos. We don't disturb suspect material. We'll recommend testing and, if needed, a licensed abatement contractor before any work on that section.

Is flex duct or metal duct better?

Rigid metal is more durable and has smoother airflow, while insulated flex duct is easier to route in tight spaces. Many good systems use metal trunks with short flex branches. We choose based on the space and airflow needed.

How long does replacement take?

Replacing a few runs usually takes a few hours. Replacing an entire attic or basement system typically takes one to two days.
