Cellulose & Loose-Fill Fiberglass for Jersey City homes

Fiberglass batts rarely fit perfectly between irregular joists in older houses, and every gap is a path for heat to escape. Loose-fill insulation is blown in through a hose and settles into every corner, around ceiling fixtures and over existing insulation to create a continuous layer.

We offer both cellulose, which is made largely from recycled paper and is treated for fire and pest resistance, and loose-fill fiberglass, which won't settle as much and doesn't absorb water. The machine stays outside or in the driveway, the hose runs to the attic, and most installations are done in a single day.

Signs it's time to call

  • Attic floor insulation is below the joist tops
  • Hard-to-reach attic areas with no insulation
  • Old batts with gaps and compressed sections
  • Enclosed floor cavities over garages or porches
  • You want a quick, cost-effective efficiency upgrade

How we do it

  1. Attic checked for leaks, ventilation and wiring hazards
  2. Air sealing and baffles completed before insulating
  3. Material chosen and blowing machine set up outside
  4. Insulation blown evenly to the target depth
  5. Depth markers installed and work area cleaned

FAQ

Blown-In Insulation questions, answered

Cellulose or fiberglass: which is better?

Both work well. Cellulose is denser and slightly better at blocking air movement; fiberglass is lighter, settles less and isn't affected by moisture. We'll recommend one based on your attic and preferences.

Does blown-in insulation settle?

Cellulose settles somewhat after installation, so we install it to account for that and still reach the target R-value. Fiberglass settles very little.

Will it be messy inside my home?

Very little. The hose runs straight to the attic access, and we protect the path and the area beneath the hatch.

Can blown-in insulation go into walls?

Yes, dense-pack cellulose can be blown into closed wall cavities through small holes. That's covered under our wall insulation service.
